How to Get a Modded Minecraft Experience on iOS
While APK files are for Android, it is possible to get a similar experience on iOS. This guide covers the non-jailbreak options available. Need it for your computer? See our PC and Mac guide.
Jailbreak vs. Non-Jailbreak Options
For iOS, you have two paths: jailbreaking, which offers deep system access but is risky, and sideloading, which is safer and doesn't require a jailbreak. This guide focuses exclusively on the safer, non-jailbreak methods.
How to Install Using AltStore (Sideloading)
Install AltStore on PC/Mac
Download and install AltServer from the official AltStore website onto your computer. This program will handle signing and installing apps on your iOS device.
Install AltStore on iOS Device
Connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer. Use the AltServer application to install the AltStore app onto your device. You will need to enter your Apple ID credentials.
Trust Developer in Settings
On your iOS device, go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management. Tap on your Apple ID and then tap "Trust".
Sideload the App
Download the appropriate IPA file for Minecraft (not the APK). Open the AltStore app on your iOS device and use it to select and install the IPA file. The app will then be available on your home screen.
Other popular sideloading tools include Sideloadly and Cydia Impactor, which follow a similar process.
iOS Version Compatibility
Works with iOS 14 and newer.
Compatibility may vary. Always check the tool's official website for the latest supported iOS versions.
Risks & Alternatives
Sideloading is safer than jailbreaking, but not without risks. Your Apple ID is used to sign the app, which is generally secure, but it's important to use trusted sources for IPA files. Third-party app stores like AppValley are an alternative but may have a higher risk of revoked apps or injected ads.
The safest alternative is to purchase the official app and use the official Marketplace for texture packs and add-ons. If you run into issues, see our troubleshooting guide.
